Changes to import regulations to the USA
October 2009
Customs and Border Protection in the USA now requires importers to provide data for all non-bulk shipments into the United States.
This means that all shipments bound for the USA must complete Importer Security Filing and submit to Customs and Border protection no later than 24 hours prior to the shipment being placed on a vessel at origin.
This means there is another item of paperwork for assignees to complete prior to moving to the USA.
Failure to provide this addition to customs paperwork may result in the shipment being flagged for examination or fines for inaccurate, late or missing data. It is very important that all assignees moving to the USA understand the importance of completing the required paperwork in time to avoid delays or fines.
Pickfords has immediately amended its process to include Importer Security Filing for all its clients moving Stateside.
