during the Olympic Games

Getting prepared

• Identify the hotspots
  We will identify the postcode areas we believe will be most affected by the traffic surrounding Olympic venues.
• Olympic checks
  All customers placing an enquiry with a move date during the Games will be checked against the list of postcodes that may prove problematic.
• Keeping ahead of evolving traffic plans
  As plans are still evolving, we will keep in contact with the London Burroughs to check and double check access to and parking at our customers’ collection and delivery addresses.
• Being aware of street parties
  We will keep in contact with the London Burroughs to identify if there are any street parties planned during this period.   There are currently 600 street party applications being considered and this may cause significant road closures.  Where possible we will contact the organiser to clearly understand the options for collection and delivery.
• We’ll help with parking
  With an influx of visitors to London, we expect parking to be a challenge.  In certain circumstances Pickfords will provide parking cones to defend our customers’ parking spaces to ensure there is adequate space for our vehicles.
• Daily traffic syndication
  We will review road closures and traffic reports around the clock during Olympic weeks and will syndicate updates to our London branches each day.  
• Managing resources
  We anticipate our own suppliers may have issues with transport during the Games, so we will ensure we have adequate stock holdings of equipment,  materials and fuel.  We will also bring manpower in from outside London where necessary to extend our resources.
