Pickfords visits ChildLine

Colleagues from Pickfords, the UK’s leading national removal and Storage Company, cemented a new corporate partnership with the NSPCC by visiting the children charity’s ChildLine in September.

Pickfords Managing Director Russell Start was one of four colleagues who joined staff at the centre in The City to see for themselves the work of ChildLine counsellors as they listen to and advise children and young people who call the ChildLine helpline or contact them online.

The Pickfords team met with a ChildLine counsellor who talked them through a typical shift, explaining the most common questions and issues raised by children. They then visited the counselling room and were able to ask questions about the work that ChildLine does.

Russell said: “Visiting the ChildLine base has reinforced for me just how important the NSPCC is for children who need someone to talk to. I’m really proud that Pickfords has teamed up with the charity and I hope that our involvement will help to make a difference.”

Tracy Griffin, NSPCC Head of Corporate Partnerships said: "The support of corporate partners like Pickfords is vital to the NSPCC. We really appreciate the fundraising support  that Pickfords staff are already showing and I look forward to developing this new partnership."

Over the next year Pickfords staff will raise funds for the NSPCC in a variety of ways such as by offering their customers the option of donating their unwanted good quality clothing and shoes to the NSPCC on their removal day. These clothes will be taken to Pickfords warehouses where the NSPCC’s recycling partner Clothes Aid will collect them and donate £300 for every tonne. In July a group of Pickfords staff also skydived to raise money.
