At Pickfords we want to make vulnerable children happier by helping to protect them from cruelty. Therefore, we have teamed up with the NSPCC for 2010 and 2011 and we’'ll be organising a range of activities to raise money for the charity.
A way you can help is through the Glad Rags project. Inevitably when it comes to your move there will be good quality items that you would rather leave behind. Pickfords can take any unwanted clothes and shoes, creating additional space in your new home and also raising much-needed funds to help to stop child cruelty.
When you move with Pickfords, it’s easy to get rid of your old clothes and shoes. During the process a Pickford’s surveyor will come to your home to assess your requirements. The surveyor will ask if you want to take part in the Glad Rags programme and if you agree, he’ll leave you some NSPCC collection bags behind. You can also call us at any time to ask for more bags.
On the move day, filled bags are simply put in the van with the rest of your belongings and left there for Pickfords to store for clothes fundraisers Clothes Aid who will collect them.
The NSPCC is inspired by a belief that it can make a difference for all children – by standing up for their rights, by listening to them, by helping them when they need it and by making them safe. Just by clearing out your wardrobe, you can help the NSPCC to end cruelty to children.
Clothes Aid, the UK's leading clothing collection fundraiser, have over fourteen years experience collecting good quality used clothes. They are a fully licensed fundraiser complying with all UK Charity Commission regulations concerning the collection and sale of used clothing. Their experience and hard work has meant over £1million has been raised for the NSPCC.
For every tonne of good quality clothes and shoes collected, the NSPCC receives at least £300. Clothes Aid has guaranteed to raise £1.4million for the children’s charity by 2011 and provides a steady revenue stream, leaving the charity to concentrate on its important work.
