International removals : your survey

What is a survey?

Your international removal begins with a survey.   A Pickfords Move Consultant will carry out a pre-move survey.  He or she will visit you in your home and view the household effects that you wish to take with you to your new home.

Estimating the size of your international move, and therefore the price, takes place at this stage.  Your move quotation will be based on the volume of goods to be shipped and/or the volume and weight of goods to be airfreighted.  Accurate estimating for an international removal depends on the detail you give the Move Consultant during this process.

What can you do to help?

Ensure that you show all items to your international mover, for instance contents of drawers, cupboards, attics and garages.  Items that are not currently at your home should be described accurately.

If you are planning to purchase any items to be included in your international removal shipment, prepare a list to give to your Move Consultant so these items can be included in the survey process.  This is a very important, many our our international moving customers purchase new goods ahead of their move which are not always visible during the survey.
