Who values my goods?
It is your responsibility to estimate the value of your goods. The value advised to insurers must be enough to replace your goods as new so it's always a good idea to compare values in retail outlets to ensure your estimate is the right estimate. For instance, the bed you bought five years ago for £600 may have increased in price to cost £1000 to replace today.
What happens if I under-insure?
If you insure for less than the full replacement value of your goods at risk then any claim you make could be scaled down. For example, if your goods are insured at £25,000 but the true value is £50,000 you will only receive half the amount of any claim you submit for the loss or damage of goods.
What happens if I have to make a claim?
Your claim details will be passed to the insurers' appointed claims handling agents who will process your claim in accordance with the terms of the policy.
If you want to make a claim you will need to notify Pickfords within 7 days of delivery.
