From this month Pickfords, the UK’s leading removals and storage company, will be printing the NSPCC’s Helpline number on the 1.2 million cartons used each year when Pickfords’ customers move home.
Pickfords will add the NSPCC Helpline number to its removal boxes, to remind as many people as possible that wherever they live, if they have concerns about the safety and welfare of a child, they can contact the free and confidential Helpline on 0808 800 5000, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Last year over 68,000 people contacted the NSPCC Helpline either by phone or email.
This awareness campaign will place the telephone number in up to 30,000 homes across the country, meaning that the NSPCC Helpline number will be seen by hundreds of thousands of people.
John Cameron, Head of NSPCC Helpline, said: “Moving house, whether just around the corner or to the other end of the country, means getting acquainted with new neighbours and becoming part of a different community. It is possible that people may see something related to a child’s wellbeing that concerns them and want to talk it through with an expert.
“Child protection is everyone’s responsibility and I hope that with Pickfords’ tremendous support, more people will remember to call the NSPCC Helpline if they have concerns about a child, wherever they live in the UK.”
Russell Start, Managing Director of Pickfords, said: “We have seen the excellent work the counsellors on the HelpLine carry out each day. Many of our customers retain our cartons long after move day and it made complete sense to use this opportunity to raise awareness of the Help Line in the home.
