- Relocation of assembly benching and equipment in an anti-static clean room environment, requiring strict protocols to ensure stability of circuitry during relocation,
- Relocation of stores composing of raw materials, product, packaging and racking and shelving, including dismantling, transport and re-assembly
- Relocation of all offices and archives
- Providing Goods In Transit Insurance to cover the machinery value of £3,380,000 on a “new for old” basis to protect the client
Logistical planning
Pickfords worked in partnership with Merritt’s Transport Services in planning methods of working at the site. Together the team overcame logistical challenges; one challenge was to extract machinery from the first and second floors, with access only available via the roof. Following the extraction, Pickfords needed to lay down the machinery in large environmental chambers, which had been partitioned since the original design and plan.
Second stage
Following the successful purchase of RTK by MTL’s parent company, Eaton, based in Knaresborough, Pickfords was employed to transfer the required departments to Luton and provide environmental clearance for unwanted furniture and equipment. Pickfords overcame the logistical challenge of needing carry out internal re-stacking of MTL assets to provide adequate space for RTK’s office and manufacturing facility.
