14 Nov 2021

Pickfords supports British Charity Tusk by moving lion sculptures to auction in London.

Pickfords is one of the logistics partners for the Lion Trail, an art project designed to raise funds to support animal conservation projects in Africa through British Charity Tusk.

30 Lion Sculptures were painted by celebrities and contemporary artists including; Rolling Stones guitarist, Ronnie Wood, wildlife photographer, David Yarrow, rugby legend Richie McCaw, actor John Cleese, comedian Noel Fielding, and numerous contemporary artists including Ian Davenport, Gavin Turk, Helen Downie, Nick Gentry and Hannah Shergold, to create the Lion Trail in London.

The works of art were unveiled worldwide on 10 August 2021 to mark World Lion Day in cities including The Hamptons, London, Edinburgh, Bristol, Sydney, Wellington and Nairobi.

In London, Pickfords delivered each Lion to its designated spot for the time of the Trail and then brought the unique artworks to Bonhams in November for auction.

The auction was highly successful, raising £1.1m to fund projects to protect Lions and their landscapes in Africa.

Mark Taylor said “We are delighted to work on such a high profile art project with Tusk and to help raise funds for African conservation. Congratulations to Steve Gooding, Nick West, Brian Fryer and their teams for their careful handling of these unique artworks’".
